The 2021 Travel Season is upon us! We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Camden Maine. Things are a little different in travel, but our destination is as beautiful as ever. We are happy to share with you some vacation planning wisdom for your trip to Maine and the MidCoast Area.
Know Before You Go
Consult this website before you travel to Maine. Maine Government. The guidelines are changing everyday. Everyday more and more places open and testing requirements change. If, for some reason guidelines turn the other way, we will call all guests to modify or change reservations.
Day-trips & Sightseeing Guidance
The Camden Riverhouse Hotel is a great central location to all of MidCoast Maine. There are so many different places you can visit and return to Camden Maine in the evening. If you choose to do a daytrip or sightseeing, here are some details, you should know.
*Reservations
Many beaches, parks, gardens, museums (ex. the Farnsworth) and historic sites are open, but you must get a timed reservation to enter. Plan ahead and get reservations. If you are going to Acadia, they are asking you to print out your ticket before you get there and put in windshield. YOU ALSO NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION TO DRIVE UP CADILLAC MOUNTAIN IN ACADIA NATIONAL PARK.
***Camden Hills State Park is open.
*Backup Plans
Because of social distancing, places like beaches and parks will close parking lots when officials believe crowding is happening. Always have a second and third idea for a destination for the day.
*Bathrooms
Public places with outdoor properties to enjoy generally are keeping indoor spaces, like visitor centers, closed. You may not be able to find a rest room when you need it. Be prepared – Google Portable Camp Toilets. The Camden Downtown Public Bathrooms ARE OPEN.
*Food
Many restaurants are serving take-out and some are serving on their outdoor decks. It is best to call ahead. Please call, text or stop in to the restaurant directly. WE ARE RECOMMENDING THAT GUESTS BRING SOME ITEMS WITH YOU – YOUR ROOM HAS A TINY REFRIGERATOR. RESTAURANTS ARE UNDERSTAFFED THIS YEAR!!

Portable chargers
Ice chest for drinks and snacks, picnic basket
Toilet paper. Consider buying a portable camp toilet.
Masks for everyone over age 2 and hand sanitizer – Masks can be purchased in Reny’s in Camden Maine and Hannaford’s in Rockland.
